Read this book through, take notes over the sections, do the practice problems, read over your notes, and take the practice quizzes at the end and you will pass. I studied this thing for about two and a half weeks for a few hours a day and the test was a breeze. I took half the time given and got scores higher than what was required.For the people saying that none of the content in this book was on your test, I assume that you are taking a different exam. This book is for the Praxis 5001 Content exam and it's very similar to what was on the test. In fact, I would say the practice tests at the back of the book were harder than the actual exam.The only section that I would be wary of is the Math section. I found the way they laid out information to be convoluted and complicated. If your university has a Math center, reach out to them. I did the practice problems and practice tests that my Math center provides and they helped prepare me better than this book did. However, the practice Math exam at the back of the book was pretty spot on.This book is not going to have the information for every single test question you are asked. But it should give you enough background and conceptual knowledge to at least reason your way through many answers. And many questions will be about information that is directly stated in the book.My Scores Required / Mine:Language Arts: 157/171Math: 157/174Social Studies: 155/188 (I've read in forums that many people think this section is the most difficult. I always liked history in school and so I'm not sure if some of my prior knowledge helped with this one or not.)Science 159/170

It’s a must! I read the book but didn’t finish the science section. I did not do the practice test either. I passed all but the science on the 1st try after being out of grad school for 9 years and undergrad for 22 years. I recommend reading the WHOLE book and do the practice test too, so you can pass the first time. It is on point.

This book preps you well for all four tests. I passed Reading and Math the first try and was three points away from passing Science and Social Studies the first try. This book is a great foundational book and groups well with the "Kid's Animated History with Pipo" show on Amazon Prime, Crash Course series on YouTube, Bill Nye the Science Guy on Netflix, and the multiple subjects study guide on the PRAXIS website.I gave it three stars because my book didn't come with the DVD mentioned behind the front cover and because of bits of misinformation I found while reading.Honestly though, this is one of the better cummulative books I've used to study for licensure. It's easy to read and has well-phrased practice questions. Get the book!

I think it's a great test prep book - well organized and very efficient. The information is densely packed so you are only reading about what you need to know and not wasting time on overly descriptive language.I also really like the practice questions that are interspersed frequently through the sections so you can immediately test what you learn. It’s a great way to check for understanding.

Can I just say that I hate to love this. Hate to take the test...hate that I have to buy this, but love that it exists and preps you so well!

This book was excellent! The only complaint that I have was that grammar and syllablecation should have been mentioned more since the actual test emphasized those skills. However, I did pass all four sections the first attempt.

I never write any reviews, but I bought the book after I took the test eight years ago in Pennsylvania. I should’ve followed my instincts when reading the book and realized that it was a lot different from what I remembered studying for the Praxis before. I just took my test yesterday (5001: Elementary education with subtests) and I can tell you for a fact, that only about 20% of what is in this book is going to be on your test. This book does not do the Praxis test justice by being an accurate study guide. Save your money.

I really enjoyed how this book was organized and easy to read. I only used this book to study and passed all parts of the test the first time, but the questions on the Praxis were more difficult for me than the practice tests in this book. Overall, I thought it was a helpful study tool and I’m glad I purchased it!
