Christopher McCulloch, also known by the pseudonym Jackson Publick, is an American comic book and television writer, storyboard artist, and voice actor known for his work on several Tick properties and for the animated television series The Venture Bros. One of my favorite books is a magnificent study of design specifically about of Ken Adams work on the James Bond movies Ken Adam Designs the Movies: James Bond and Beyond . It’s a complete, beautiful, exhaustive work. So I was hoping for the same attitude for this book. And I was not let down. "Go Team Venture! The Art and Making of The Venture Bros." takes exactly the same tact on six seasons of the Venture Bros. show as the Ken Adam book on James Bond. It is its equal, if not superior in several ways. So relieved not to to have been let down this time! Great hardcover production and binding, exquisite paper, deeply vivid images, and production work that really gives you insight into how these complex and hilarious characters and stories have evolved. Certainly for fans, but also for people who study design and property consistency in any form. Recommended.

EXQUISITE!!!!!!This book is, hands down, the definition of "collectable." If you are a fan of the Venture Bros, you need TWO of these books; one to read and one to keep "Mint in Box." It is printed on acid-free paper and worth every cent.With my right hand over my heart, I tell you this book is fantastic. Absolutely a must-have for VB fans!!!

This is a great book for Venture Bros. fans. Nearly 400 pages of interview, sketches, proofs, prints and drawings of this underappreciated gem of a cartoon show. Everything from Jackson's early sketches and comic book idea to lists and photos of official merchandise. I don't want to sound like "that guy", but I can't believe this doesn't cost more.

This is a beautiful and insightful book about the TV series Venture Brothers that runs on the Cartoon Network, Adult Swim block. The show began as a more of a parody of the old Jonny Quest show about a boy adventurer and his super scientist dad; it is wonderfully funny, satirical and at times very insightful about modern life as seen through a very twisted prism of a world with super scientist heroes, super villains and secret organizations. It is a cult hit and honestly, it would be hard for someone to dive in now at season 7. The creators make lovely call back to early seasons and make everything internally consistent. It has good quality animation, excellent art design and visuals. It pays homage to other works without wallowing in nostalgia.If you know and enjoy the series, this book is a must-have. It is full of images, prototype illustrations and details about the origin and creation of the series. Beautifully printed in full color it is full interesting stories about the voice actors, the whole process of creation and is clearly a labor of love. Highly recommended for all fans of the show. Has detailed discussion by Doc Hammer and Jackson Publick , the nom-de-plume of the creators, about each episode up to the end of Season 6 and the specials. (but these are not plot summaries - these are nuisances of the production and the show)

I have numerous books of this type (making of, behind the scenes, guide to, art of) and I have no problem saying this is the best one I've ever seen. Can't wait to do a series re-watch and go through this book at the same time. An amazing book!!

Wow. What an amazing insight into the creative genius that is Venture Bros., one of the most relevant pop culture animations celebrating everything from the Golden Age (or Gilded Age) of comics to the movies and shows of yesteryear and today. One of the few books that actually delves into the process of making each episode, whether it be conversations with the creators Doc Hammer or Jackson Publick, to original illustrations and design notes, this book has it all. My only wish is more like it. Absolutely stunning. Go Team Venture!

I expected a coffee table book--something long, tall, thin, and full of fancy artwork and stuff. What I got was something long and tall, but it was thick as a brick, and it contained a most amazingly detailed history of the show's development, broken down season-by-season, episode-by-episode, item of merchandise-by-item of merchandise. This book is massive, and it's tightly packed with information, anecdotes, and artwork. If you've ever listened to the director's commentary on the DVDs/Blu-Rays and thought, "OK, this is all well and good, but talk about this episode!", then you won't be disappointed. This book *is* the director's commentary.

 Any VB fan worth their salt knows that merch for this criminally underappreciated gem of a show is sadly hard to come by. After watching this book get repeatedly announced and cancelled (since what, 2014?), I am here to assure you that much like new seasons of the show itself, this book was 100% worth the wait. I've collected art books for many a movie and TV show and this is unequivocally the best I have ever seen. This goes beyond your typical showy coffee table tome. For starters, it's physically larger than a textbook. Contents include (but are not limited to): an episode-by-episode guide for all 6 seasons yet released (as I write this, we are 5 days out from the premiere of Season 7, though there is a sneak peek in the book for that too!), previously unseen concept sketches and character designs, how-to-draw guides, in-depth interviews with Doc and Jackson, there's even a Shirt Club catalogue in the back! Another incredible detail is the flipbook-style animation in the bottom right-corner of every single page, allowing the reader to replicate the silhouetted run cycle animation of Hank and Dean as seen in the show's intro. This covers everything a Venture Bros. fan could want and more. It's an absolute dream come true. The only reservation I've come away with is thinking that perhaps it should have been saved for when the show comes to a complete (and hopefully planned and dignified) end many years from now so that all seasons may be covered. Buy this now; you will NOT be disappointed.What more is there to say? Go Team Venture!
