For people who love history (me), or true crime. This author is the best. He has the knack for transporting you back in time to days that were, maybe, not the good old days. Other authors focus on well known or famous crimes. This author delves into the little known ones. What's fascinating is that are are obscure, as some of them are more horrendous than the ones you know. This author has the website 'Historical Crime Detective'. I highly reccommend this book and the web page. Hundreds of people are discovering how wonderful his stories are. The best of the 'up and coming'. 5 STARS!
As a fan of true crime, Mr. Morrow just became one of my favorite authors. The stories might not be as complete as you would like but he gives as complete as research can allow.Well done and I can't wait for the next volume.
I enjoy the author Jason Lucky Morrow and this book definitely lived up to my expectations. I actually read Volume II first and so was already familiar with the content. The one frustrating aspect of the 10 crimes spotlighted in Volume 1 is that in a number of them the person responsible for the crime was not apprehended or not brought to justice. The cases are still fascinating to read about but it does leave you without a sense of closure. In Volume 2, the cases are all solved and the trials are included for each. I liked that better, though both volumes are quite interesting. I'm looking forward to Volume 3.
Book was shipped promptly by the seller, and in excellent physical condition. This is a great book that profiles several crimes from a fifty year span that were well publicized, and sometimes even notorious, in their era, but have since faded into obscurity. As a history buff with a preference for historical cases, Morrow's book was an enjoyable change of pace from the ever increasing slew of Jack the Ripper and Zodiac tomes (if either of those two were still alive, they'd likely be tired of reading about themselves as well). The narrative is straightforward and not complex, but built well on extensive research, annotations and contemporary sources for information about the crimes, the participants and the aftermath. I'm looking forward to the author publishing additional volumes about "new" old cases.
Interesting to those of us who enjoy reading about true crime, as opposed to fictionalized (and usually romanticized) mysteries and so-called "thrillers". Frankly, I enjoy both genres from time to time. The choice of topics here is kind of random, and the author's writing style is adequate, but I do have to credit Morrow's efforts at good research and sticking to the facts. He resists the urge to speculate excessively about the criminals' motivations or to sensationalize their activities...in the current climate, that approach is rather refreshing.

Each crime captures an era. Following the horrific acts through the 20th century's first half, I had an eerie sense that the worst of humanity will never leave us. Of course, a lesser writer could not have brought the Times and personalities back to life.
A well put together book. Clearly a lot of research went into writing these ten accounts of horrible crimes. The amount of detail and pictures of the criminals and victims makes you feel like you were alive at the time and waiting to hear what happened next. It is an unfortunate reminder that these types of crimes happen all the time. However, it brings to light how much work is involved in making connections between incidents to find the criminals and make sure they are brought to justice.
